E N V I R O N M E N T 33 Energy consumption and energy mix (VSME B3–29) Nabaltec uses an energy management system (EnMS) in accordance with ISO 50001, which ensures the systematic recording, analysis and optimization of energy consumption. All relevant employees are involved in the implementation and realization of the system. This ensures a continuous improvement in energy efficiency. The efficiency principle applies to investments: New purchases are assessed on the basis of life cycle/total cost of ownership, including energy and CO2 costs. Energy-efficient variants are preferred. We make targeted use of new technologies in production, processing and application in order to increase specific energy efficiency. A significant proportion comes from the cooperation with the Schwandorf waste recycling association (ZMS). The waste-to-energy plant converts non-recyclable residual waste into steam and electricity using combined heat and power (CHP). The collaboration ensures a reliable supply at the Schwandorf headquarters and reduces specific CO2 emissions compared to conventional alternatives.
